Camping & Caravanning in the Yorkshire Dales

Want to camp in the Yorkshire Dales? Swaledale has to be the most undiscovered gem...

At Park House, Keld, we have a small campsite right next to the River Swale. We have a couple of nice clean toilets, and a lovely hot shower – back to nature, real camping in stunning scenery – what could be better? Of course, if you like to bring four walls and the kitchen sink, we can take a few campervans or caravans too. We have electric hook ups and now even have grass reinforcement mesh to stop any of that worrying, sinking feeling!

The weather here in the Dales is red hot and amazing all year round – well, perhaps it’s a slight exaggeration, not exactly all year! Should you be unfortunate enough to catch a bit of wilder, grass watering weather, we have a fair sized shed type building, where you can get a bit of shelter while you eat your tea.

If you fancy a meal out or a pint, half a mile away is Keld Lodge, a friendly little hotel, with good food and beer. A bit further afield is the Tan Hill Inn, about 4 miles from the campsite, an unusual fairly wacky pub, also serving food and a good range of ales. Find us on the map at OS Ref: 887015.

During the main season, or by arrangement, we sell lovely bacon and egg, bacon or egg breakfast baguettes and brews in the morning. In the evenings, usually between 6 -7.30pm, we sell simple but delicious home cooked food, such as veggie or beef curry, quorn chilli or beef stew. By the time your tent’s up, it’ll be ready!   We also now have a licence to sell alcohol, and generally sell it until 9pm.  There may be occasions that this service is limited, though we try hard to be consistant!

REALLY IMPORTANT INFO!!

We aim to help everybody have a good time when they camp with us. Many of our campers are serious walkers, sleeping and rising early. If you want to camp where you can talk all night with a few beers (and who doesn’t sometimes?) then our campsite is definitely not the one for you!

If other people can hear you after 11pm, that’s not okay here. Please be aware of this when you come.

If you want a friendly and quiet camping holiday - we hope you’ll find our place ideal!

As for dogs...

We love dogs, but not everyone does, so they must be kept on a lead, or tether whilst here.  We have hens, ducks and cats around, and want to keep it that way!

SORRY...

We're sorry but due to the nature of our small site, we are unable to take very wide tents.  We have one long standing exception... hope you understand.
